3 Ways to Make Money Online – An Entrepreneur’s Guide
Hi team.
Hope everyone has had a good week up till now. Typically for me, Tuesday’s are officially the worst days, so I thought I would brighten my blog up with a post about three business models that nearly any individual can get involved with relatively quickly and make money from. All of these business models could be run as a hobby (i.e. after or around a full time job) or all of these businesses could be taken on as a full time occupation and scaled up to a very nicely profitable business.
1. The Blogging Business
Who is it ideal for?: People looking for a lifestyle business. I.e, people who don’t like the day-to-day structure of having a job or business to run, and just want to take time out to do what they want to do. Blogging can be a highly professional and profitable business, or it can be an excellent lifestyle business for anyone who believes that their time is important to them.
How Much Money Can You Make?: As much or as little as you like. Successful blogs have sold for millions of dollars in the financial industry, Perez Hilton has acquired fame and fortune as a blogger, and techcrunch have built a strong and profitable brand on the Internet business and technology market front with their blog. But my favorite example for the potential of this business model is a guy who works in an office round the corner from me who builds blogs up in the space of a month or two, and gets them generating a couple of thousand dollars a month. He then sells the site for three to six months worth of profit. He cranks these blogs out on a monthly basis and makes a very nice profit from them. The best part is, he isn’t working on these things 9-5 on a daily basis. In fact, I hardly ever seem him in his offices, he is usually out some where enjoying life.
How Do You Make Money? : You setup a blog based website fill it with good content that people will want to read and come back to read in the future, and then sell advertising space to advertisers and companies. The more traffic and interest your blog generates, the more you can charge for the advertising space on your blog. It’s that easy. I love this concept as a business model, because it allows you to write and talk about things you enjoy, and at the same time, get rewarded for it!
Some blogs you should look out for include, Johnchow.com, johncow.com, shoemoney.com, theyoungwarrior.com and michelfortin.com. These are examples of attractive and profitable blogs, with some of them generating 5-6 figures a month. If this sounds like something you want to be involved in, and you want the freedom of your own time, then this is the business model for you.
2. Freelancing Business
Who is it For?: This is another good lifestyle business for those who like to set their own work load and hours of work. However, this business model can be labor intensive and at times dull when the project you are working on does not inspire you. This is a business model that allows you to get paid for the skills you have, and content creators, writers, designers, programmers, SEO experts alike can apply this business model to bring in some extra cash, or to replace their day job!
How Much Money Can You Make?: This depends on your skill, your customer service which will in turn, earn you a reputation. Get a good reputation, and depending on what you specialize in (copywriting for example) you can earn 6-10 thousand dollars per project. In some other cases, you may only earn 5 or 10 bucks. The main point here is, you have to get started, perform at your best, don’t overload yourself with work and deliver on promises. If the quality is good, and you are one of the rare freelancers capable of delivering what you promise, then you can earn yourself a very nice reputation and in turn, an excellent income.
How Do You Make Money?: You provide services to webmasters and website owners, bloggers and the like. You simply decide what skills you have to offer and charge people for your time working on their projects. You could do design, writing content, emil support, basic administration nearly anything a webmaster has to, you can offer as a service. You can advertise your services in a number of ways. You can use third party websites seuch as elance.com or you could advertise them on forums, via your blog or twitter feed. (I estimate 60% or more of my freelance custom came from my Twitter presence).
This may seem like a demanding past time, but if you have a skill set that webmasters need, and you can deliver on promises then there will almost never be a shortage of work for you!
Selling Information Products
Who is it for?: Recently I released a pre-launch version of a product I am bringing out with two other young and intelligent marketers. In this video and ebook course, we teach you how anyone can setup an information marketing business and profit from it, as a hobby business or as a main source of income business. I am not telling you this to pitch our product, I am not even going to give a link to it. I mention this because I believe this business model is for everyone from the humble student, work at home mum, or the ambitious, motivated and driven entrepreneur.
How Much Money Can You Make?: The amounts are almost unlimited depending on how you do it. I know people who make almost $6000 a year for every information product they own (and they own at least three of these) and they do very little work to sell these products. I have also people with 100k a month businesses selling information products, and multi-million dollar companies have been built on the success of selling information products. The popularity of selling information products online is apparent from the sheer amount of product launches that take place every week in our niche and industry. I believe that this particular method has far more potential than any other method discussed in this post today.
How Do You Make Money?: You sell information. You research, create and package excellent content, upload to a download page and start selling it using systems such as Paypal, 1shopping cart, clickbank etc to handle the payments. You can even sell physical versions of your products using an excellent system such as kunaki.com. The core to this system is creating excellent content people will love and feel good about buying, and making a good sales pitch.
So there is three business models any aspiring Internet entrepreneur can get involved with in a very short amount of time, even whilst having a full time occupation! I went into next to no detail about any of the systems above, but I’ll be adding more content and advice on the systems in the coming weeks. Search for the youtube video already on this blog that shows you exactly how I started making thousands of dollars a month using freelancing when I graduated and didn’t have a job last Summer.
